Working With A Trucking Company To Move The Freight You Need

Transporting goods around the country is a big job and a large percentage of the freight to moves every day does so in the back of a tractor-trailer. Truck transportation services offer customers a way to move the things they from one point to another and they do it pretty efficiently.

Shipping Freight

For companies that manufacture a product, shipping the product to distribution centers, stores, or even directly to the customer can be made easier with trucks. Working with one of the large companies that offer shipping services can help you get your goods where they need to be.

These companies will come to your facility and load the product on the truck then move it for you with very little interaction from you. Most companies will require you to have a shipper on hand to load the truck, but the driver may do it if they have concerns about the load being balanced in the trailer.

Lower Costs

The cost of truck shipping is often lower than trains or airplanes and trucks are usually a lot more direct. The load can go from your loading dock to the receiving dock in just a few days to most parts of the country. Because there is minimal handling of the product, the fee for moving the freight is lower and the often more manageable for small companies just getting started. With the current fuel prices, the cost is not as low as it used to be but that additional cost has impacted all the carriers, not just the trucking industry.

Shipping Speed

If the shipment is a dedicated load, the truck driver will not have other pickup or drop-offs along the way, so your freight goes from you to the receiver. That leaves little option for something to go wrong along the way, and it means that the cargo arrives quickly to its destination. If you need the freight there faster, the company may offer you the option of having a driving team move your freight. Team drivers trade off driving and sleeping so they can keep the truck moving over the road and get the freight where it needs to go.

Large Shipments

If you are working with a large truck company, they can handle all your shipments, even if you get to the point that the shipments are very large. Often when this happens, the company will provide multiple trucks or one truck with several trailers for your goods to ship in. It takes a lot of freight to fill a fifty-three-foot trailer, but many companies ship multiple trailers every day, sometimes through numerous truck transport companies, to get the freight to the customer.
